“Any musician playing the Austin City Limits Festival,
and any fan lucky enough to be there knows it - music rarely gets as
pure and heartfelt as what happens on those hallowed stages. From the
kinetic power of Bright Eyes, to the last ringing notes of REM's stunningly
personal turn as headliners, this is what happens when a performance
takes off... soars... and never lands.”
-Cameron Crowe
In September 2003, two hundred thousand music fans congregated
in Austin, TX to share a weekend of performances from more than 130
bands. People from all over the world experienced the orange sky above
during Steve Winwood's electrifying performance, the nostalgia of R.E.M.'s
set and the excitement of hearing Robert Randolph Playing a song he
rarely plays live anymore.
In the spirit of the legendary public television show,
this compilation captures the eclectic nature of the festival and allows
those unable to make the shows to step back in time and those in attendance
to recall the weekend.
