[read the interview]12-05-03: Relix review of Live:Here's a great review of Live from the Nov./Dec. issue of Relix magazine by Benjamin Bruce that we think deserves repeating in its entirety:It’s nice to find a gem. Delbert McClinton has been doing his thing over 40 years. Never in the limelight, never with attending fame, until he was awarded a Grammy for his 2001 release, Nothing Personal - maybe because everyone is groping so desperately for the real thing, and he's been delivering it since the beginning. The music on Live is straight-ahead - a tight band, gritty vocals, blues-rock attitude and some spice added by the horns. It's a sound you've heard often, that will remind you of the Blues Brothers (since they borrowed McClinton's set-up), yet you can feel that this is the original, just from listening. Recorded at the Bergen Blues Festival in Norway, this two-disc set features songs spanning his entire career, and couldn't have been a better introduction. -Benjamin Bruce 12-03-04: A plethora of Live reviewsRolling Stone.comPopMatters.com Houston Chronicle online About Country Music All Music Guide 11-04-03: BluePower features Delbert"A critics' darling and favorite of his peers, McClinton never really became a household name, but his resurgence in the '90s helped him earn more widespread respect from both the public at large and the Grammy committee."
