‘Featured Artist,’ Max Gomez, “Rule The World”
Today’s “Featured Artist and Song of the Day” showcases Taos, New Mexico’s own, Max Gomez, with his song, “Rule The World,” which is currently an unreleased song from the talented singer/songwriter. Gomez got his start at an early age as he began working as a musician at age 15. He played his own stuff, as well as country and blues staples, enjoying the likes of blues legends Robert Johnson and Big Bill Broonzy, while strumming the tunes of Johnny Cash, Townes Van Zandt and Kris Kristofferson. Through his new record label, New West Records, Gomez said, “I’m influenced by the old stuff. To me, that’s the best music.”
His song, “Rule The World,” is just a preview of what is to come, for Gomez is set to release his debut album, through New West Records, late this summer. When talking about his writing process, Gomez said, “I try to be more of a disguised lyricist. The songs I write are not real straightforward. You have to decode them. I like when the listener has to create their own story, rather than be told what’s happening.” With this song as an indicator, music fans are in store for something special with his upcoming album. The Troubadour’s Road will be sure to relay further details of the album when it becomes available. Gomez is definitely one to continue to keep an eye out for as he takes the next step of his musical journey.
