Steve Earle Garners Grammy Nomination for Townes

Additional North American Dates Announced  

Los Angeles, CA -- Steve Earle was honored last night by the Recording Academy with a Grammy® Nomination for his album Townes (New West Records) in the Best Contemporary Folk Album category. Townes, the 15-song set of songs written by Earle’s friend and mentor, the late singer-songwriter, Townes Van Zandt, follows Earle’s Grammy Award winning album Washington Square Serenade.    

Earle is currently finishing up a successful European tour and then heads back to North America for a concert in NYC on December 18th at the New York Society for Ethical Culture Concert Hall. Earle will then continue with a run of dates through Portland, Seattle and on through Canada (see below for tour schedule). 

Townes debuted at number 19 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, the highest Top 200 debut in his career.  The album also debuted at #6 on the Billboard Country Chart. Townes has garnered major worldwide critical acclaim, receiving 4 stars in Uncut, 4 out of 5 stars in The Sunday, Daily Express (UK), 3 out of 4 stars in USA Today and 8 out of 10 stars in Spin Magazine which claims that “…he does his idol justice.”  Of the songs, Rolling Stone’s 3 ½ star review states that Earle “…delivers them with the ease of breathing…” and in Best Life Magazine, Anthony DeCurtis stated that the album is “beautiful and scarifying.”
