Blame The Vain Dwight Yoakams new CD, Blame The Vain, is a fun, rockin country album - and the first in his career that hes produced himself. He said of the recording process, Theres a lot of reckless joy on this album, we never left a session that wasnt flat out fun. Yoakam chose some kindred spirits to bring his musical vision to fruition in the studio: Keith Gattis, Mitch Marine, Yoakams former bassist Taras Prodaniuk (on a rare break from touring and recording with Lucinda Williams), keyboardist/pedal-steel player Skip Edwards, and harmony singers Dave Roe, Jonathan Clark and Timothy B. Schmitt. Special guests included former Ventures guitarist Gerry McGee, who contributes the awesome finger-picking answer to Yoakams acoustic guitar solo on the devastating ballad Just Passing Time and the Jimmy Webb homage The Last Heart in Line. And kicking off the frisky ode to Southern culture, Intentional Heartache, is Motown percussionist Bobbye Hall (Whats Goin On) on her mighty bongos, and on other various percussive instruments throughout Blame The Vain.
